In this episode, Bryan Cush sits down with healthcare marketing veteran Mindy Grantham for a candid conversation on what modern healthcare marketing—especially in oncology—really requires. A cancer survivor herself, Mindy brings both professional and personal perspective from her work with leading institutions like the Mayo Clinic and Rocky Mountain Cancer Center, as well as experience outside the healthcare space. Together, they explore why healthcare marketing must evolve beyond traditional brand awareness toward strategies that drive meaningful patient acquisition and long-term retention.
Mindy emphasizes that effective healthcare marketing starts with a deep understanding of business operations, financial realities, and the patient journey. She shares how smaller, more nimble organizations can compete with larger health systems, the growing importance of data-driven decision-making, and why a truly patient-first approach is essential—particularly in oncology, where trust, empathy, and clarity matter most.

About the Guest:
Mindy Grantham has built her career at the intersection of oncology, marketing strategy, and human-centered communication — helping leading organizations connect life-saving expertise with the people who need it most. Her experience spans both global consumer brands and premier healthcare institutions, including Northwest Airlines, Visa, Boston Scientific, Mayo Clinic, and Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers. That breadth gives her a rare perspective: the analytical rigor and scale of Fortune 100 marketing combined with the urgency, complexity, and empathy required in oncology care.
In cancer care, her work is deeply personal. As a breast cancer survivor, Mindy understands the journey from both sides — as both strategist and patient. She has led oncology marketing at Mayo Clinic, overseeing enterprise strategy across three national sites, and at Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, Colorado’s largest community oncology network, where she drove patient acquisition, referral growth, and operational alignment. Along the way, she’s built predictive analytics models, launched nationally adopted clinical trial recruitment programs, strengthened multicultural outreach efforts, and developed coordinated physician-to-patient growth strategies.
Mindy believes oncology marketing is unlike any other discipline because patients don’t begin searching until the moment they urgently need care. Her work focuses on reducing friction between diagnosis and treatment, building trust at scale, and helping health systems translate complex science into clarity and action.
Today, as Director of Oncology Marketing at Target Continuum, she partners with oncology programs nationwide to improve access, expand early detection, and ensure more patients receive timely, high-quality cancer care.
